Participatory Action Research (PAR) is an approach to collaborative research that brings together researchers and community members to identify, analyze, and act upon community challenges.
In this course, taught in the Department of Sociology, students learn about the origins and processes of PAR as we work with local community partners to understand the structural and institutional landscapes of challenges facing communities in East Tennessee. We produce research to help community-based service and advocacy organizations better understand and address these local policy challenges.
